Phoenix (UK) Hop Pellets are an excellent choice among high alpha dual-purpose hops. It has a very attractive, almost mellow aroma. But the flavor has a slight spice. The true potential of Phoenix has not yet been uncovered. The storage ability of its alpha is at the top end of the world's hop varieties.
Origin: United Kingdom. Bred at Wye College, Phoenix was developed as a disease-resistant replacement for Challenger and released in 1996.
Usage: Dual purpose. Phoenix is a versatile all-round player, with excellent bittering potential and a pleasingly mellow flavor and aroma contribution. This variety is at home in many ale styles, including pale ale, bitter, and darker beers like brown ale, porter, and stout.
Aroma & Flavor Characteristics: Floral and pine with woodsy, spicy overtones and suggestions of chocolate or molasses.
